The Philip and Muriel Berman Center for Jewish Studies at Lehigh University is a place for conversations. These happen in the Jewish Studies classroom with our faculty and students, at public events with the scholars we bring to the Lehigh Valley, and at our international seminars with experts from around the globe. Whether you are from the Lehigh campus, the greater Lehigh Valley community, or the international scholarly field of Jewish studies—we welcome you to these intellectual exchanges.
The Berman Center for Jewish Studies is celebrating the 40th anniversary in 2024. Read about this significant milestone and the history of the center.
The last several decades have witnessed new approaches to the history and literature of Early Judaism. Learn more about the sessions and the speakers on our conference page.
Join us for a lecture that explores the intersection of art and activism. The artists will discuss their “Artivism” – activism through art – sharing their journey of creating work that addresses humanitarian causes and societal challenges.
Pharaoh's Daughter, led by singer-musician Basya Schechter, fuses psychedelic and pan-Mediterranean influences in their music. Their repertoire features a blend of Hasidic chants, Mizrahi and Sephardi folk-rock, and spiritual elements, accompanied by percussion, flute, strings, and electronica.
